Deputy Minister U Hla Kyaw of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation highlighted that the ministry has been striving the sustainable development in agriculture, livestock and villages, and village-tracts. Rice and agro-based products should be developed in maximized momentum.
He spoke at the meeting held on 7 March in Pettan Village of Zalun Township, Hinthada District, Ayeyawady Region to hand over 150-acre farmlands to farmers for the development of mechanized agriculture with Union fund in 2019-2020 financial year.
He further said that climate conditions and its consequent natural disasters have caused losses in farmlands so efforts are being made to affect production volume. Dams are also being built to develop farmland water systems. The ministry is coordinating with concerned departments in fulfilling the regional needs for use of the agro-based machinery.
It is a successful result of the local farmers from Tayokyoe and Tingote villages in Pettan village-tract. They have developed 150-acre mechanized farming. This event is to hand over it to the farmers. The State is supporting them and they also need to collaborate and strive for sustainable mechanized agriculture and growth of production, he added.
Next, Ayeyawady Region Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Environment U Tin Aung Win, Director-General U Soe Hlaing of the Agricultural Mechanization Department and Zalun constituency member of parliament U Aung Min explained the issues in connection with the all-round development of mechanized farmlands and its socio-economic benefits to farmers. They also presented certificates of honour to volunteers in developing 150-acre mechanized agriculture.
The deputy minister and party inspected the booths showcasing agriculture, livestock, villages and mechanized farming. They also watched the booths of private companies displaying the farming implements, farming machinery, chemical fertilizers, insecticides, and pesticides.
150-acre mechanized farmland is located beside of the Pettan-Taguntine-Mahatha-Sinmyaysar village road in Zalun township. The development work started in December 2019 and finished in March 2020. It is now ready for all-weather – monsoon, winter and summer – cropping with the aid of machines.
The deputy minister then looked around the construction of the KG school building and ICB-3 solar system for a home in Ywathit Village in Zalun Township.
