Chairman of Union Election Commission U Hla Thein received International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance Asia and Pacific Director Ms Leena Rikkila Tamang at the Union Election Commission Office in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

During the meeting, they discussed matters related to preparation for holding the 2020 General Election in accord with the five norms, conducting capacity building training on the elections, ensuring domestic migrant workers and IDPs can exercise their rights to vote, collaboration with relevant organizations on electoral security, prevention of hate speech and fake news for the elections, and further process of STEP II Democracy with the support of International IDEA.
