1. The Ministry of Health and Sports is continuously conducting surveillance on COVID-19 acute respiratory disease at international entry/exit gates, in hospital-based and community-based processes, and in collaboration with private hospitals.
2. There are 3 new quarantined patients under surveillance between 6 pm of 15-3-2020 and 6 pm of 16-3-2020.
3. On 16-3-2020, two Myanmar nationals returning from Germany and one returning from Thailand were screened at Yangon International Airport. Although they do not have high fever, display symptoms of COVID-19, or been in close contact with people with confirmed cases, they have history of traveling to nations with high infection rate and are currently under hospital quarantine.
4. As of 6 pm, 16-3-2020, ten quarantined patients awaiting their lab test results are receiving medical care at their respective hospitals.
5. The lab test results will be made public in real time.
6. As of 12-3-2020, there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Myanmar, but nonetheless, surveillance activities are actively in progress. COVID-19 is currently spread across neighbouring China and 143 countries around the world. WHO recently declared the virus a pandemic and the general public is advised to closely follow the healthcare guidelines published by the Ministry of Health and Sports.
