THE Ministry of Health and Sports has initiated its coordination and command centres to control measures against Covid-19 in the country amid worries about high risk of the viral disease due to the returnees from the countries and territories with the confirmed cases of pandemic.

Union Minister Dr Myint Htwe advised health authorities from States and Regions during the daily meeting 39/2020 through video conferencing yesterday, and he expressed his appreciation of their round-theclock efforts on disease-preventive measures.

He also said that the ministry has already developed a working plan for treatments and controls to the first case in line with latest therapy, and it will be distributed to the hospitals in states and regions.

The Union Minister also acknowledged the coordination of Sayadaw Dr Ashin Cekinda, the President of Myanmar Football Federation and the hoteliers association to set up quarantine places.

He highlighted effectiveness of the 14-day quarantine strategy in the countries with pandemic cases over the two months. Depending on the epidemiological conditions of the returnees from the countries and territories of high cases or low cases, facility quarantine or home quarantine is being practiced.

The ministry has arranged buses to take the returnees through border crossings to their homes in coordination with the Union government, social affairs ministers of Region/State governments and the General Administration Departments.

The returnees also need to impose self-quarantine for 14 days in their respective areas in consideration of other people.

The Union Minister also advised not to organize large community events, to carry out public awareness with hand speakers in remote areas with no easy access to televisions, radios and internet.

He added the importance of coordination and command centres in facing against the new disease.

At the meeting, health authorities discussed the updates of Covid-19 in the other countries, findings on international treatments, accumulation of medicines and medical equipment, distributions of medicines and equipment, getting information by contacting with the focal persons of International Health Regulation and available international funds.
