A donation ceremony for medicine and equipment for COVID-19 was held at the Defence Services Orthopedic Hospital in Mingaladon Township, Yangon Region, yesterday.


First, the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, delivered a speech regarding the donation and Maj-Gen Soe Win, Director of Directorate of Medical Services, explained the Tatmadaw’s preparations for COVID-19.


Next, Adjutant General LtGen Myo Zaw Thein handed over a water purification machine (worth K2.5 million) and medicine and equipment worth K144.7 million donated by families of Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) for Waibargi Specialist Hospital in South Okkalapa Township to Dr Tun Myint, Head of Yangon Region’s Public Health and Medical Services Department.


This was followed by Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and the commanders-in-chief of the navy and air force accepting donations from private donors and conferring them with certificates of honour.


The families of the Tatmadaw donated K148 million worth of medicines and equipment, 6 ventilators, 60 portable ventilators, 5 oxygen tanks and test kits for 20,000 people.


Afterwards, the Senior General and entourage visited Defence Services Rehabilitation Hospital and Defence Services Cardiac Specialist Hospital and inspected the wards for quarantined patients, cafeteria, intensive care unit and personal protective equipment provided, according to new released from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services.
