The opening ceremony of the Shwemyoh 15 MW solar power plant, implemented by Golden City Solar Power Co Ltd, was held in Zeyathiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, yesterday morning.

Union Minister for Electricity and Energy U Ko Ko Lwin attended the ceremony and pressed a button to connect the electricity generated by the solar power plant and the electricity stored in the Battery Energy Storage System to the national grid, marking the start of electricity generation.

The Union minister said that the Shwemyoh 15 MW solar power plant, inaugurated within a year and equipped with an Energy Storage System to support stable power distribution, would contribute to a more reliable electricity supply. He added that the government would further upgrade the Phase II 25 MW and Phase III 30 MW projects with the latest technologies. As solar projects can be completed quickly and play an important role in meeting urgent electricity needs, collective efforts are required to complete them successfully within the stipulated time frame.

The power plant area and the construction sites of the Phase II and Phase III projects were inspected, according to the reports.
