According to the Myanmar Police Force, a combined task force consisting of members of the Anti-Drug Police Force arrested four individuals — Nyikat (aka) Lawna, Aik Pleik, Sam Chin, and Seng Kham – at around 3:30 pm on 19 April. The arrests took place on Bogyoke Road, in Weinkyauk Ward, Tachilek Township, as the suspects arrived to conduct a drug transaction. Authorities seized a total of 602,000 stimulant tablets, along with three vehicles: a Vigo, a Lexus, and a Crown.

Based on information obtained from the initial arrests, a further operation was carried out the same night at 11 pm at the residence of Hwayhti, a drug dealer in Yanaungmyay Ward, Tachilek. During the raid, authorities seized 2.45 kilogrammes of morphine blocks, 6 kilogrammes of “Ice” (methamphetamine), 28,000 stimulant tablets, 28.5 kilogrammes of raw opium, 100 kilogrammes of ketamine, and 18 sets of mould used in WY pill production. Additionally, three pistols, 728 rounds of various ammunition, and three more vehicles were confiscated.

In total, narcotics, firearms, and related equipment worth approximately K1.18 billion in local market value were seized. Legal action has been taken against the suspects under the relevant laws, and efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend other individuals involved in the drug trafficking network. Authorities are also pursuing further legal measures under the Anti-Money Laundering Law to confiscate all assets and financial gains obtained through the illegal drug trade and transfer them to the public treasury.
