SECURITY forces conducting area security operations along the Kalewa-Yagyi-Monywa road have retaken Lapoh village as part of ongoing efforts to reopen and secure the route, according to official reports.

Authorities said the operations aim to restore full control of the road, which forms part of the Myanmar-India Friendship Corridor, following temporary disruption due to armed activity.

Security operations initially began in the Yinmabin and Pale areas before progressing step by step along the corridor. Security columns have retaken several locations, including Yelekyun, Kyauklongyi Tesu, Chaungma, Aungmingala, Thityapin junction and village, Wingon, Nyaungpinle, and Yakyi villages from 6 to 13 June, before advancing from Kwanyaepin and fully retaking Lapoh village on 18 June.

Officials said clashes occurred during the operations, with security forces seizing improvised explosive devices, rockets, grenade-type explosives and other materials, as well as temporary base sites. Terrorist groups reportedly suffered casualties and retreated.

Authorities added that operations will continue, with local cooperation, to fully reopen and stabilize the Kalewa-Yagyi-Monywa road corridor.
