The Drug Enforcement Division seized narcotics and weapons valued at over K3 billion in Kalewa, according to the Myanmar Police Force.
The seizure was made by a combined team from the Drug Enforcement Division on 7 June at around 10 am at the Chindwin Bridge in Kalewa Township, following a tip-off.
Authorities stopped and searched three Prados and arrested three suspects identified as Goh Shin Mang (alias Shin Mang), Ginkap Khai (alias Khai Khai), and Mung Gint Sam (alias Sam Thel).
From the vehicles, police seized 5.5 kilogrammes of heroin from one vehicle, 4.4 kilogrammes of heroin from another, and 1.05 million methamphetamine tablets along with two pistols and 200 rounds of ammunition from the third vehicle.
In total, the operation resulted in the seizure of 9.9 kilogrammes of heroin, over 1.05 million stimulant tablets, and weapons and ammunition, with an estimated street value of K3.021 billion.
Further investigations revealed that the drugs and weapons were being transported from Mandalay to Tiddim, allegedly under instructions from Tiddim residents Tun Gint Mung (alias Par Mong) and Thang Sawm Hauk (alias Sawm Hauk), who remain at large.
Legal action has been taken under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law, and authorities are continuing efforts to identify and arrest remaining suspects. Investigations are also ongoing to trace and confiscate assets obtained through drug trafficking under the Anti-Money Laundering Law.
Officials said confiscated assets linked to drug proceeds will be seized for the State, while further accomplices are being pursued.
