THE State Administration Council issued an announcement dated 10 February 2024 setting the date for the People’s Military Service Law to come into force on 10 February 2024, which was enacted by Law No 27/2010 of the State Peace and Development Council on 4 November 2010, under Sub-Section(b) of Section 1 of that law.

Currently, some media and social media pages spread false information regarding the announcement saying overseas trips of citizens are restricted.

Regarding the set date for the People’s Military Service Law to come into force, the immigration-related directives and restrictions for departures are not released, and the departures and arrivals at international airports such as Yangon, Mandalay, Nay Pyi Taw and border entrance/exit with neighbouring countries are operating as usual under the law systematically. It is here announced that there is no specific directive for outbound trips.
