Overcome challenges of climate change through global strength
IF countries continue with current climate policies, global temperatures are projected to rise by 3.1° Celsius above before the industrial era by 2100 – over twice the increase seen in the past decade, according to a United Nations annual report comparing climate impacts with these countries’ pledges.
These countries agreed to limit global warming to 1.5°C as part of the Paris Agreement in 2015 to prevent dangerous consequences. However, greenhouse gas emissions increased by 1.3 per cent during the period between 2022 and 2023, reaching a record volume of 57.1 gigatonnes of carbon dioxide.
As a source of carbon emission, the global population is currently increasing, contributing significantly to carbon emissions. Factories, machinery, and vehicles release gases and pollutants that contaminate soil, water, and air worldwide. The global people’s heavy reliance on fossil fuels for daily activities exacerbates the spread of greenhouse gases, leading to rising global temperatures. Additionally, poor forest management, often without effective planning, results in natural disasters, threatening biodiversity and ecosystems.
Currently, the world is experiencing a temperature increase of 1.3° Celsius compared to the pre-industrial era. People globally are suffering the impacts of unprecedented temperatures, both day and night. This warming contributes to the spread of infectious diseases, deteriorates public health, triggers natural disasters, and exacerbates malnutrition, particularly among children. These factors lead to the outbreak of various catastrophes.
Climate change causes significant suffering for people worldwide, leading to flash floods, droughts, heatwaves, wildfires, storms, melting glaciers, rising sea levels, and shortages of food and drinking water year after year. Additionally, the depletion of forests, which absorb carbon dioxide, exacerbates global warming.
Global countries must implement effective management strategies to mitigate the effects of climate change, alleviating the suffering caused by natural disasters and global warming. Experts have warned that nations may face severe consequences from rising temperatures. Therefore, it is crucial for everyone to be aware of the potential impacts of environmental degradation.
All global countries, to combat this, must reduce their reliance on fossil fuels and stop deforestation to prevent the emergence of barren hills and plains while promoting tree cultivation in all parts of the world as part of conserving the environment and habitats of living beings in order to defy climate change, especially global warming. That is why accelerating the use of renewable energy is essential to overcome the challenges posed by climate change.
