Learn a lesson from natural disasters for a better future
NATURAL disasters are a kind of test for human beings whether they are qualified for lasting in society or not. Some of them fall in the test and some achieve wins. Those who secure wins can survive in natural disasters but those who fall in the test lose their lives and property.
Myanmar people have an unforgettable and regrettable event of natural disaster in their lives. It is called the Nargis cyclonic storm which started on 27 April 2008 in the sea. The cyclonic storm unexpectedly changed its route and hit Ayeyawady and Yangon regions on 2 May. Hence, all need to take an invaluable lesson from the bitter experience.
Nobody would face bitter experiences. Everybody wishes to stroll along with the pleasant ways without disturbances. But, those in the vicious circle cannot enjoy the blessing of nature. It is a must that they all unavoidably face both goodness and badness along with their lives. It is a universal truth.
Now, a deep depression at the Bay of Bengal passing along the route to the target area hit parts of Myanmar. Although it is just touched by the fringe of the storm, its impacts may be a great loss for the country. That is why all people need to have endurance over the impacts of storms.
To mitigate the loss of life and property, both authorities and local people need to make preparations for escape from the disasters. They must have awareness of storm impacts. They must be qualified for encountering natural disasters. The authorities need to arrange search and rescue works as well as evacuation, relief process and rehabilitation plans to be able to overcome the challenges of the storms.
The summer storm is beneficial to Myanmar. It is because the storm will bring coldness and rainwater to the country when the summer is hot. It will lessen the heat for the people along its route. It will fill farmlands to grow more crops and rainwater lakes for public consumption. Importantly, the storm will give good lessons to the people on how to manage more natural disasters in the coming monsoon. Hence, all the people need to pass the coming examination with good results.
In fact, any process which needs to overcome the challenges must have unity among the people. The united strength will be the best to safeguard the nation against any disasters and dangers.
