UNION Election Commission Chair U Ko Ko held talks with Mr Sholban Kara-Ool, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, at the UEC office in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

The UEC chairman explained collaboration efforts under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation and preparations undertaken to ensure the successful conduct of elections.

Mr Sholban Kara-Ool shared insights into the structure and operations of the State Duma, potential areas for bilateral cooperation, and ways for Russia to assist in facilitating successful elections. The Russian ambassador also raised questions on election processes, which the UEC chairman addressed in detail, highlighting the ongoing measures for successful elections.

The meeting discussed election-related matters in a frank and cordial atmosphere. UEC members and officials were present at the meeting.
