Terrorists blew up the railway section at milepost 99/6-7 between Tawwi and Peinzalok railway stations on the Yangon-Mandalay railway in Nyaunglebin Township, Bago Region, at 11:40 pm on 13 December, causing the railway section between Tawwi and Peinzaloke temporarily closed.

Due to the explosion, about 1.5 feet long two rail tracts on the down route were damaged and it caused about a six feet wide pit under the rail tracts.

Local authorities and security forces rushed to the scene of the incident and performed security measures of the area. Myanma Railways staff conducted the maintenance to reopen the railway section as quickly as possible.

The railway section was reopened and the train schedules resumed as usual at noon on 14 December.

Since 1 February 2021, terrorist groups have been perpetrating 79 mine attacks and explosions within railway areas and stations, 174 blasts on railway bridges and rail tracts, and 16 instances of blazing stations and employee housings.

Their terror acts are aimed at destabilizing the rule of law and endangering the safety of travellers, drawing widespread condemnation from the public.
