SPORTS events of the Fifth Na­tional Sports Festival 2024 con­tinued at relevant sports venues in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area yesterday morning.

The In¬ter-Ministerial men’s and women’s volleyball third-place matches continued at Wunna Theikdi Sports Com­plex B. In the men’s volleyball event, the Ministry of Defence defeated the Ministry of Plan­ning and Finance (MoPF) with a 3-0 victory and in the women’s event, the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs (MoSYA) defeated the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MoTC) 3-1.

During the Inter-Ministerial men’s open football semifinals at Wunna Theikdi Training ground 3, the Ministry of Construction team defeated the MoSYA team 3-0, while MoPF secured a 2-0 victory over the Ministry of Co­operatives and Rural Develop­ment.

Moreover, the quarterfinals of Inter-Ministry men’s futsal events continued at Wunna Theikdi Futsal Complex. The MoTC team defeated the Min­istry of Commerce team 8-7 and the MoPF secured a 5-2 victory over the Ministry of Social Wel­fare, Relief and Resettlement.

In addition, relevant teams competed in the knockout stage of the Inter-Ministry men’s Sepak Takraw events at Wunna Theikdi Sports Complex A.

Moreover, relevant teams and athletes competed in third place and final matches of the Inter-State and Region U 21 men’s football matches, the final match of Myanmar Traditional Chinlon event, the final matches of the Inter-State and Region billiards and snooker sports, the Inter-State and Region Karate final matches competitions, at their respective sports com­plexes. Following the events, Officials presented awards to the winners.

Athletes competed in the In­ter-State and Region men’s and women’s Wushu Tournament at Shwekyapin Sports Complex.

Union-level dignitaries, deputy ministers, regional and state cabinet ministers, depart­mental personnel, officials from relevant sports federations, staff members, students and sports fans happily enjoyed the sports competitions.
