DEPUTY Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar U Than Swe received Mr Bounphieng Chanthavong, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, yesterday at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw.

During the courtesy call, the Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar. They engaged in a cordial and constructive exchange of views on strengthening the traditional bonds of friendship between the two counties through the existing bilateral mechanisms, focusing on various sectors of mutual interest, including trade, connectivity and energy sector, and advancing cooperation on regional and international spheres.
