The ceremony to honour participants in healthcare programmes and athletes at the Fifth National Sports Festival 2024 was held at the Ministry of Health’s hall yesterday.
The ceremony was attended by Union Minister for Health Dr Thet Khaing Win, Deputy Minister Dr Aye Htun, directors-general, officials from the Directorate of Medical Services, specialists, assistant surgeons, nurses, medical technicians, supporting health workers, administrative staff, athletes representing the Ministry of Health, and other invitees.
The Union minister stated that health workers are not only based in Nay Pyi Taw but that health workers in regions and states have also been organized to provide medical care for the National Sports Festival. In addition, not only the Ministry of Health but also medical workers from the Medical Services and the Myanmar Red Cross Society have formed nearly 300 strengths of medical teams to participate in healthcare efforts. He expressed his gratitude to all staff members who have overseen and managed the healthcare services to ensure that no one was left behind.
Following this, the Union minister, the deputy minister, and the directors-general presented certificates of honour and gifts to those who participated in the healthcare programmes and sports competitions, contributing to the successful organization of the Fifth National Sports Festival. They also hosted a lunch.
During the event, the Ministry of Health treated over 5,800 patients, including 1,371 injured in sports competitions, 1,487 at traditional medicine clinics, 92 at specialist clinics, 2,314 at accommodation sites, 557 in the performance groups’ training and during the opening and closing ceremonies, and 42 at hospitals.
