State Administration Council Member Mahn Nyein Maung inspected agricultural projects in Pyay District yesterday morning, accompanied by Bago Region Chief Minister U Myo Swe Win.

The SAC member and his team first inspected the irrigation system of a special cotton zone, which uses a natural water wheel powered by Nawin Creek in Wuntinseik Village, Pyay Township. By providing improved seeds and ensuring a sufficient water supply to local cotton farmers, the yield of cotton crops is expected to increase.

They then met cotton farmers in Thitchopin Village, Pyay Township, where they delivered speeches and donated mung bean seeds and fertilizer. The team also observed the cotton harvesting process at a cotton demonstration farm and the successful trial cultivation of high-yielding cotton varieties. They expressed their encouragement for the farmers’ efforts in ensuring a sufficient water supply for cultivation.

They proceeded to the Farmer Training School in Zeeoak Village, Pyay Township, and attended the opening ceremony of the Farmer Development Training Course 3/2024. During the ceremony, they delivered speeches and donated seeds to farmers from eight townships.

Continuing their visit, the SAC member and officials met peanut and sunflower farmers in Kyunmee Village, Pandaung Township, where they delivered an encouraging speech and provided local farmers with fertilizers. The state government’s initiative to distribute high-quality seeds for a 2,000-acre peanut farm in Kyunmee Village resulted in a yield of over 122 baskets per acre last year.
