SUPERVISED by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law.
A combined inspection team led by the Myanmar Police Force under the instructions of the Chin State Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force conducted inspections on 29 August.
Officials nabbed K3,528,000 worth of illegally carried liquor from two vehicles heading from Falam to Haka at the bus stop on the Haka-Gangaw Road. The action was taken under the Chin Special Division Act.
Similarly, on 30 August, an on-duty team at the Mayanchaung Permanent Checkpoint confiscated K28,023,532 worth of consumer goods, raw industrial materials that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) from three trucks (approximately K270 million) with three trailers (approximately K75 million). The action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
In addition, an unregistered Pajero car (approximately K3 million) at the Myoma Market in Butalin township was captured under the Sagaing Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force. The action was taken under the Export and Import Law.
Afterwards, an inspection team led by the Thandwe District Forest Department conducted inspections and seized a total of 13.9044 tonnes of illegal timbers in Taungup and Thandwe townships. The action was taken under the Forest Law.
In addition, a combined team led by the Lewe Township Forest Department made unexpected inspections on the arrival of the Taungdwingyi-Pyinmana down mail train. They confiscated a total of 0.2400 tonne of illegally carried teak worth K35,000. The action was taken under the Forest Law.
A combined team led by the Mandalay Region Customs Department under the supervision of the Mandalay Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force carried out patrol inspections on 31 August.
They captured 538 ownerless cartons of playing cards worth K16,140,000 at the side of the 18/6-Milepost on the Mandalay-PyinOoLwin Road. The action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
Similarly, a total of 7.3076 tonnes of illegal teak worth K2,241,716 were seized in Minhla township of Toungoo district and the action was taken under the Forest Law.
Therefore, 17 arrests (approximately K399,946,532) were made on three consecutive days from 29 to 31 August, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee.
