THE award presentation ceremony of the Short Videos Contest of “Right Information Saves and Empowers ASEAN” (RISE ASEAN), which aims to respond to health, economy, social, tourism and education development through accurate and true information in member countries, took place at the Myanma Radio and Television in Yangon yesterday.
During the ceremony, MRTV Director-General U Ye Naing said there were lots of crises in each sector, especially in the economic sector, due to the COVID-19 pandemic around the world. Similarly, all are facing the risk of false news and misinformation on social media. Therefore, it should make educating programmes for the people by responding to such news with true news.
Among ASEAN countries, the Philippines served as Project Coordinating Country for the “Short Video Contest”, and MITV was the Focal Person of Myanmar.
The winners were presented with K1.5 million for the first prize, K1 million for the second prize and K800,000 for the third prize.
The Short Videos Contest “Right Information Saves and Empowers ASEAN” (RISE ASEAN) intends to respond to false news and misinformation in the ASEAN community via various platforms including social media, support the regional health, economy, social, tourism and education sectors, and improve the local interests with the participation of youths, and the young people aged between 18 and 25 are invited to the contest.
The winning short videos of respective countries must be sent to ASEAN Secretariat via the Philippines and will be broadcasted through the Stateowned Television Channels of the ASEAN Member States as well as the websites and social media.
