ON the full moon of Tazaungmone, the Bagan Ancient Cultural Zone bustled with pilgrims and tourists, creating a vibrant scene reminiscent of the Thadingyut Festival. Although fewer visitors travelled to Bagan from other parts of Myanmar due to competing attractions like the Taunggyi hot-air balloon festival, Bagan remained lively, welcoming both pilgrims and tourists.

The Tazaungdine Festival, organized by the Rakhine State government and featuring events such as the lighting of 9,000 candles and the releasing of hot-air balloons, was celebrated at the precinct of Lawkananda Pagoda in Sittway on the evening of 15 November, with Rakhine Chief Minister U Htein Lin and his wife, the Chief Justice of the State High Court, members of the state government, departmental officials, and residents in attendance.

On the 1st Waning of Tazaungmone, people from across Myanmar flocked to pay respects to the revered Maravijaya Buddha Image in Nay Pyi Taw’s Dekkhinathiri Township, the world’s tallest seated stone Buddha statue. The surrounding Buddha Park, decorated with LED lights, also attracted many visitors, who marvelled at the impressive architecture and numerous stupas and shrines within the park.

The Kayah State government is actively working to expedite the reopening of universities, colleges, institutes, and training schools within the state. The University of Computer Studies, Technological University, and Loikaw Education Degree College are set to reopen in the third week of November.
