THE English daily newspaper namely The Global New Light of Myanmar and SPUTNIK Information Agency, based in Russia, signed an agreement on Russia-Myanmar Information Cooperation to collaborate in information sharing and media affairs.
U Maung Maung Ohn, the Union Minister for Information, and invited guests presented the Signing Ceremony of the at Horizon Lake View hotel, Nay Pyi Taw, yesterday.
On the occasion, Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn delivered an opening speech at the ceremony, saying that Russia-Myanmar diplomatic relations initiated on 18 February 1948, and now it reached its 75th anniversary on 18 February 2023. He also highlighted the fact that Russia-Myanmar relations have been establishing strategic multilateral relations that benefits both countries based on mutual trust and beneficial cooperation.
The Union minister cautioned the period that the relations between Russia and Myanmar became more powerful in the 1990s and it was significantly added momentum in 2011. Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing’s visit to Russia brought next steps to be promoted in bilateral trade and investment, he added.
Through cooperation with the international news agency, Myanmar journalists will have a chance to study news writing, editing and photography techniques. In addition, both sides can mutually exchange their views on the art of journalism, the Union minister remarked.
In conclusion, the Union minister wished for the signatories to be successful in the purposes of mutual understanding between peoples of the two countries, news flow in a rapidly manner, dissemination of news on culture, humanitarian, sports, business and political arenas and media development.
Mr Vasily Pushkov, the Director of International Cooperation, SPUTNIK Information Agency extended greetings.
Managing Director of the News and Periodicals Enterprise as well as BOD chairman of The Global New Light of Myanmar Co Ltd U Thet Swe and Mr Vasily Pushkov, the director of SPUTNIK Information Agency, signed the agreement on cooperation in exchange of information in the presence of the Union Minister.
Also present at the ceremony were U Ye Tint, Deputy Minister for Information, U Myo Myint Maung, the permanent secretary of the ministry, Chief Editors and officials.
SPUTNIK Information Agency having its head-office in Moscow, Russia was established by Rossiya Segodnya (Russia Today), a State-owned news agency on 10 November 2014. SPUTNIK Information Agency which wins more than 66 million views per month on their website has bureau offices in Washington DC, Cairo, Beijing, Paris, Berlin, Madrid, Montevideo and Rio de Janeiro.
In the afternoon, the director of SPUTNIK Information Agency and party visited Maravijaya Buddha Image in the Buddha Park, Gandakuti chambers, Saddhadhipati Bell, Aggadipati Sasana Beikman and stone plaque chamber pagodas.
