STATE Administration Council Member Daw Dwe Bu led a delegation that oversaw development initiatives in Myitkyina, Kachin State. She was accompanied by Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan and other state officials yesterday.
During the visit, Daw Dwe Bu observed the sale of essential food items to locals at reduced prices, supervised by the state government. She engaged with people waiting in line, emphasizing food safety and ease of access to affordable goods.
In her address at an International Literacy Day event held at No 9 Basic Education High School (BEHS), she highlighted the pivotal role of education in a nation’s development and announced government efforts to ensure school-age children receive an education to combat illiteracy. She called for participation in literacy initiatives for children and those above 15, aligning with the 2023 International Literacy Day theme: “Promoting literacy for a world in transition: Building the foundation for sustainable and peaceful societies.”
After the event, SAC Member Daw Dwe Bu watched a Ministry of Education video on the illiteracy campaign. She and Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan recognized winners of essay, poem, painting, and poster contests as part of the 2023 International Literacy Day celebrations.
Subsequently, Daw Dwe Bu met education staff to discuss educational and related sector development matters. She also coordinated preparations for the 2024 census, aiming to contribute to the country’s holistic development.
Additionally, the SAC member inspected the construction progress of the No 2 Bala Minhtin bridge, emphasizing adherence to the construction timeline and maintenance of the existing bridge. She also fulfilled necessary measures to streamline commodity flow and upgrade the road connecting to the Waingmaw-Kampaiti border checkpoint.
