Arrangements are being made to enumerate the nationwide census in 2024 to hold the election soonest, said Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.
The Senior General notified departmental officials, town elders and MSME businesspersons of regional development at the city hall in Lashio of northern Shan State yesterday morning.
He pointed out that basic data of voter lists must be compiled correctly to enable all eligible voters to cast votes in all parts of the country.
As peace and stability are of importance in the democratization process, the government cooperates with residents in restoration of peace and stability as well as the rule of law, urging the people from Shan State (North) to ensure peace and stability and rule of law, he noted.
The Senior General expressed his remarks that although the Constitution (2008) does not directly use the federal, everybody can observe that the Constitution has consisted of federal procedures for sharing power.
The Senior General expressed his deep pledge that Tatmadaw firmly stands on the NCA in the restoration of the peace process, adding the 8th Anniversary of NCA will be held with essence on 15 October, with a pledge to strive for securing more achievements in the peace process.
On the occasion, the Shan State Chief Minister, local authorities, businesspersons and town elders reported on requirements for the development of the state. Union ministers responded to their reports on each topic.
In the regional development sector, the Senior General disclosed that currently, preparations are being made to run trains on the Lasio-Mandalay railway whereas construction of the Lashio-Muse-Lashio-Chinshwehaw railway is also under preparation.
Only when the flow of commodities is swift and smooth will it contribute to the development socioeconomic life of local people. Hence, the runway of Lashio Airport is being improved to ensure better transport, he added.
The Senior General underscored that if transport facilities are developed, Shan State (North) and its residents can enjoy the fruits of improved socioeconomic life, and all-out efforts aim for region-wise development and then nationwide improvement.
He pointed out that as Shan State (North) is endowed with fascinating natural beauties including the Gokteik Viaduct attracting travellers, efforts should be made for the restoration of peace and stability and the rule of law for the development of the tourism industry.
The Senior General gave guidance after inspecting progress in upgrading the runway of Lashio Airport for the purpose of admitting the landing of jets.
Regarding the economic sector, the Senior General highlighted that as domestic manufacturing industries based on agriculture and livestock farms are being encouraged to raise the GDP of the State, the government helps boom MSME businesses. On the other hand, he continued to say that it is necessary to decline commodity prices and adjust consumption and production. As suitable action has been taken against greedy businesspersons, prices of cooking oil decline in the market, he added.
In the afternoon, the Senior General met with Tatmadaw members and families of Lashio Station under the North-East Command.
