THE workshop on media liter­acy to address disinformation focused on journalism objectiv­ity and values in content and methods or tools to identify disinformation, Deputy Minis­ter for Information U Ye Tint stressed.

The deputy minister said during the closing ceremony of the Workshop on Media Lit­eracy to address Disinforma­tion jointly organized by MRTV and Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD) at Horizon Lake View Hotel, in Nay Pyi Taw on 28 September.

The two-day workshop em­phasized the ways to receive trust in presenting the news by the focal media outlets, and it can apply the knowledge in daily programmes and news presenting field effectively, he added. He also called on the attendees to understand the digital media literacy that is a challenge in the world and to hold further workshops.

During the event, Speak­er Dr Sara Chinnasamy pre­sented the certificates to the trainees.

The deputy minister then gave gifts to Dr Sara Chinna­samy and Programme Manag­er Ms Monica Phang. Perma­nent Secretary U Myo Myint Maung of the Ministry of Infor­mation also presented gifts to Chairman Myinmu Maung Na­ing Moe of the Myanmar Press Council, General Manager of Forever Group U Kyaw Kyaw, and Assistant Director of the Media Development Depart­ment Daw Myat Kyay Mone.

MRTV became a full mem­ber of AIBD on 29 July 1997 and is actively participating in seminars, workshops and webinars of AIBD.
