THE announcement about the cancellation of K50 and K100 banknotes spread round social media and websites is not true.

Section 36 (e) of the 2008 Constitution clearly stated that the Union shall not demonetize the currency legally in circulation.

The Central Bank of Myanmar has issued this statement saying that the CBM is working with the authorities to uncover and take serious actions against those who disperse such false news.
