Aceremony to convey Inlay PhaungdawU Buddha images to Atthadisa Dhamma Vihara chamber in Nyaungshwe took place yesterday morning, attended by Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing who led the conveyance of the Buddha images.

Together with his wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla and State dignitaries, the Senior General watched cultural dances of ethnic traditional dance troupes.

The Senior General and party paid homage to Inlay PhaungdawU Buddha images which arrived there by Karaweik barge and conveyed these Buddha images onto the decorated float leading to Atthadisa Dhamma Vihara chamber after carrying out the conveyance in Nyaungshwe.

The Senior General, his wife and State dignitaries in addition to locals and travellers enjoyed the Inntha traditional boat race in which rowers use their legs instead of hands.

The Senior General presented the first and second prizes to Kayla and Shwepyitha villages in the men’s over100-oar event whereas Daw Kyu Kyu Hla gave the first and second prizes to Aingdauntgyi (B) and Mongthauk-in villages in the women’s 26-oar event.

Also, SAC members and Union ministers handed prizes to other winning teams.

The Senior General and wife offered alms, water, flowers, oil lights and gold foils to Inlay PhaungdawU Buddha images and donated cash to the fund for all-round renovation of the chamber.

While in Taunggyi, the Senior General and wife paid homage to Shwephonepwint and Culamuni Lawkachantha pagodas in the afternoon.

From the viewpoint on the platform of Shwephonepwint Pagoda, the Senior General enjoyed the panoramic view of Taunggyi and instructed officials to shape Taunggyi into a disciplined and clean city as it is a prominent city in Myanmar.

While visiting the pagoda, the Senior General cordially greeted travellers and pilgrims. MNA/TTA
