ALTHOUGH many people are interested in visiting Sheinkhaung village in Khaunglanphu, Kachin State, there are difficulties due to road transport problems, said Ko Moe Min Thein, a tour operator developing a new destination.

Being a village in Khaunglanphu of Kachin State, its picture of full snow-capped mountains attracted much attention from people on Facebook.

“Now, many people are interested. But the transport is still difficult with many transitsfirst by car, then by motorbike and on foot, and by motorbike and by car. At least there are three transits. So, travel costs are still high. People are interested in Sheinkhaung after seeing its pictures online,” he said.

Sheinkhaung is situated on a hill, and it has become a place of choice for those who cannot climb the snow-capped mountain or go trekking.

“Sheinkhaung is accessible from November to March. It has beautiful scenes. The visitor has to cross both Maykha and Malikha rivers. On the way, travellers will have to pass by small ice-capped mountains and enjoy unique customs,” he said.

If road transport to Sheinkhaung village is good, it will add to the treasure list of tourist destinations in Kachin State, he said.
