A Myanmar Buddhist delegation, consisting of 15 monks led by the Secretary of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee, Venerable Bhaddanta Vasettha Bhivamsa, met the monks from the Chinese Buddhist Association and the Buddhist Academy of China in Beijing on 9 July to exchange views on religious matters.

The delegation had a meeting with the chairperson of the Chinese Buddhist Association, Venerable Yanjue, before paying homage to the sacred Buddha Tooth Relic at Lingguang Temple in Beijing. They also visited the Buddhist Academy of China to meet with the monks of the academy and exchange views on religious matters.

Similarly, at the invitation of the Chinese Buddhist Association, the chairperson of the Myanmar-China Friendship Association, the Ovadacariya Sayadaw of the Shwedagon Pagoda Chairperson of the Yangon Region Sangha Nayaka Committee Dr Aggasami, along with three monks, attended the 60th anniversary celebration of the Lingguang Buddha Tooth Relic Temple from 18 to 22 June.

Discussions during the ceremony also included the possibility of conveying the Buddha Tooth Relic to Myanmar for the fifth time.
