A 36-member Bhutanese Royal Emergency Medical Team led by Dasho Tashi Wangyal departed for Bhutan by air yesterday morning as the second batch. Ambassador U Kyaw Htun from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and officials from the National Disaster Management Committee saw them off at Nay Pyi Taw Airport.
The full Bhutanese medical team comprised 87 members, of whom 51 had already returned to Bhutan the previous day as the first batch. The Bhutanese medical team collaborated with medical personnel from the Tatmadaw Medical Corps and professionals from the Ministry of Health, including specialists, doctors, nurses and other medical staff at the temporary hospital (Paunglaung) located at Paunglaung Sports Ground in Pyinmana, Nay Pyi Taw.
The team provided medical check-ups, treatments, and surgical procedures between 3 and 16 April for people affected by the earthquake.
