Myanmar authorities detained 278 foreign nationals yesterday for illegally entering the Kyaukkhet area in Myawady, Kayin State, via illegal routes.

Between 30 January and 18 April 2025, a total of 9,018 illegal immigrants were identified and detained in Myanmar. Of this number, 7,288 individuals have already been deported through Thailand to their respective countries, while arrangements are being made to deport the remaining 1,729 individuals. These individuals are currently under detention while awaiting repatriation.

The Myanmar government takes strict action against illegal online fraud and scam operations, particularly in border areas. Authorities are collaborating with neighbouring countries and international organizations to crack down on illegal online gambling networks and telecom fraud, ensuring effective investigations and legal actions against those involved.
