Myanmar deported 10 Filipinos and 10 Rwandans, totalling 20 people, for their involvement in telecom fraud and destructive actions via the Myanmar-Thailand Friendship Bridge II yesterday.
Myanmar authorities officially handed the deportees the necessary legal documents to ensure their smooth repatriation.
Between 30 January and 22 April 2025, a total of 9,032 illegal immigrants were identified and detained in Myanmar. Of this number, 7,308 individuals have already been deported through Thailand to their respective countries, while arrangements are being made to deport the remaining 1,723 individuals. These individuals are currently under detention while awaiting repatriation.
The government is strictly cracking down on online scams and online gambling by cooperating with international countries including neighbouring countries, especially through the Myanmar-China-Thailand Trilateral Cooperation, and systematically transferring the foreigners involved in these operations.
