A six-day gems and jade sale in the local currency concluded yesterday in Nay Pyi Taw, fetching over K17 billion from the sale of 1,141 jade lots.
“We were satisfied with the sales under the open tender system. The floor price was set at K1 million, but the sale of jade lots saw a high price, like the sale in euros,” said Ko Yan Aung, a gems merchant.
In the evening, officials from the Myanma Gems Enterprise held a press conference.
More than 2,000 gems merchants attended the sale.
A total of 3,695 jade lots and 286 gems lots were put on sale.
During the six-day sale, a total of 3,491 jade lots, worth over K59 billion, and nine gems lots, worth over K36 million, were sold.
Jade lot no. 1469, weighing 580 kg, fetched the highest price of K580 million at the January sale.
