A ceremony was held on Friday to open a gymnasium donated by the SeokSung Scholarship Foundation of the Republic of Korea at No 3 Basic Education High School in Thanlyin. Region Hluttaw representative U Nay Lin Aung of Thanlyin Township No.1 Constituency, officials from the Ministry of Education and ROK’s SeokSung Scholarship Foundation, and the headmistress formally opened the gymnasium.Yangon Region Social Affairs Minister U Naing Ngan Lin and donors opened the sports centre by pressing buttons, followed by a Taekwondo demonstration by athletes from the two nations, and a hand over of sports equipment.
The ceremony continued at the school’s hall where students sang the song “Pyi Myanmar” and the chairman of the school’s board of trustees, U Myint Win, delivered a key-note address. Also, the Yangon Region Social Affairs Minister and the ROK’s donors discussed the donation of the gymnasium, and handed over documents to the school’s headmistress. Representatives of the two nations also exchanged commemorative gifts, which were followed by students entertaining guests with songs and dances.
