U KYAW TINT SWE, Union Minister for the Office of the State Counsellor, delivered an opening speech at the Training Course on International Criminal Law conducted by the Union Attorney General’s Office in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning.


The Union Minister said that the course is aimed at promoting legal and research skills of personnel involved in the affairs of international criminal justice system and criminal law.


He added to settle international criminal cases in line with international criminal laws, and the importance of human resources for domestic judicial sector, responsibility and accountability for criminal and human rights abuse cases, fair justice, development of judicial pillar with concrete rule of law foundation, the role of internal legal experts and knowledge on the issues of international criminal justice system and criminal law.


Those present at the opening ceremony of the course were Union Attorney-General U Tun Tun Oo, Deputy Attorney-General U Win Myint, Retired Ambassador U Maung Wai.


A total of 36 trainees from the Ministry of the Office of the State Counsellor, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, the Union Attorney-General’s Office and the Office of the Judge Advocate General are attending the two-day course from 16 to 17 January.
