FOURTEEN buildings for government staff and five public rental residential projects in Sagaing Region will be built during the 2019-2020 financial year, according to the Department of Urban and Housing Development.


The staff housing developments will include 196 rooms and will be built in 12 townships in Sagaing Region in the 2019- 2020 FY. Twenty staff housing buildings with 276 rooms were also constructed in 16 townships during the 2018-2019 FY, according to the department.


The five public rental residences will include 190 rooms and be located in 5 townships, and the rooms will be rented at a cost of K 20,000 per unit for government employees who have at least 25 years’ length of service and are retired, and low-income members of the public who do not own a house.


The allocation of rooms among government employees and low-income public will be made in accordance with the Regional government’s instruction, according to Daw Mya Yi Mon, Deputy Director-General of Ur-ban and Housing Development Department.


In previous financial years, 14 public rental residences with 672 rooms were constructed in five townships, and rented out.
These projects were built to develop housing, establishing a safe, pleasant and sustainable development system, and to improve the living standards of citizens, said Daw Mya Yi Mon.
