A delegation of Myanmar National Human Rights Commission (MNHRC) led by its members U Tin Aung, U Kyaw Myint and U Kyaw Soe inspected the Mandalay Central Prison, the Meiktila Prison and the labour camps of 24th Mile, Htone Bo (female), Htone Bo (male 1 and 2) and Phaya Ngasu under the Correctional Department of Mandalay Region from 28 to 31 January.
During the inspection tour, they also inspected the detention rooms of Meiktila District/Township courts, rooms for detainees on medical care in custody at 200-bed Hospital, Meikhtila, and detention rooms of Meikhtila police stations.
The group inspected the prisons and detention facilities in accordance with the prescribed rules of the commission. They also met with the individual inmates, and asked them if their rights were violated or not and their fundamental human rights are acquired.
The members of MNHRC recorded the investigations. Their suggestions about the investigations will be reported to the related departments in order to take necessary actions, according to Myanmar National Human Rights Commission.
