Deputy Minister for Information U Aung Hla Tun delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of capacity-building training course (2/2020) conducted by the Information and Public Relations Department at its office in Yangon yesterday morning.
In his opening remark, the Deputy Minister said the goals of nation and practices of its administration body has significantly changed, comparing with the situations in 30 years ago when the IPRD was founded.
He added that rapid development of digital technology has changed lifestyles of people while mobile phone users have comprised over 80 per cent and the penetration of mobile phones has passed 100 per cent in Myanmar, and that it is the highest rate among ASEAN member countries.
The Deputy Minister also highlighted the importance of publishing correct and accurate news in real time to clear rumours, false news and misleading news being spread on online media platforms. The course attended by 35 trainees from State/Region offices of lower Myanmar will conduct news writing, media and information literacy, media laws, library process, museum knowledge, public relations, official letter writing, financial rules and accounting till 6 March.
