THE 40th ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting (AMEM) and Associated Meetings were host­ed by Cambodia via videoconfer­encing on 15 and 16 September and Union Minister for Energy U Myo Myint Oo joined the events.

It was also attended by the Energy Ministers of ASEAN member countries and dialogue partners, officials of the ASEAN Secretariat, ASEAN Centre for Energy and international energy agencies.

They openly discussed the energy security in ASEAN coun­tries under the ASEAN Plan of Actions for Energy Cooperation - APAEC Phase II (2021-2025), ex­panding the natural gas pipeline network, upgrading grids, coal and clean coal technologies, ef­fective use of energy and saving of energy, enhancing the use of renewable energy, energy policy and better plans, urban nuclear power, further cooperation work among the ASEAN countries, ASEAN and dialogue countries/ members, and released the ur­ban nuclear technology.

The Associated Meetings of 40th AMEM: ASEAN and the US Energy Ministers Meeting, ASEAN and International Re­newable Energy Agency Meeting and ASEAN and International Energy Agency Meeting were held and discussed the coop­eration work for energy, policy and procedures and approved the draft versions the 7th ASE­AN Energy Outlook and the 2nd ASEAN Renewable Energy (RE) Outlook.

The ASEAN Energy Minis­ters Meetings and ASEAN +3 (Japan, Korea and China) Min­isters on Energy Meeting will be held on 16 September and they will focus on the development of the energy sector.

Moreover, the ASEAN Ener­gy Business Forum (AEBF) and ASEAN Energy Award-Giving Ceremony were held and Union Minister U Myo Myint Oo an­nounced the prize-winning com­panies and delivered the speech.

The Union minister attend­ed the meetings along with Dep­uty Minister for Energy U Thant Sin and relevant officials.
