SUPERVISED by the Anti-Ille­gal Trade Steering Committee, effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law.

An on-duty team under the supervision of the Customs De­partment made inspections at the Asia World Container Termi­nal Checkpoint.

Officials captured K12,505,500 worth of communica­tion devices and CCTV cameras and accessories that arrived 60 days before the licence approv­al on 4 October and K8,780,475 worth of household appliances without the Import Declaration (ID) on 5 October. The action was taken under the Customs Procedures.

Afterwards, a combined team led by Myanmar Police Force captured an unregistered Kenbo 125 (estimated value of K200,000) in Shwebo township on 5 October, an unregistered Toy­ota Mark II car (approximately K3.5 million) at the Yadanabon Bridge Combined Checkpoint. The action was taken under the Export and Import Law.

In addition, a combined team under the management of the Ayeyawady Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force at the Pantine Checkpoint seized 16 illegal draught and dairy cattle worth K8 million on 6 October. The action was taken under the Important Goods and Services Act.

Similarly, the Mayanchaung Permanent Checkpoint in Mon State confiscated K2,086,560 worth of motorbike parts that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) from a trailer and a Scania Tractor Head (ap­proximately K115 million) head­ing from Myawady to Yangon. The action was taken under the Customs Procedures.

The Kawkareik (Tadakyoe) Combined Checkpoint captured 51 cartons of orange worth K1.53 million without official docu­ments from a vehicle. The action was taken under the Customs Procedures.

Therefore, 11 arrests esti­mated at K176,442,535 were made on consecutive days from 5 to 7 October, according to the Anti-Il­legal Trade Steering Committee.
