STARTING at 6 pm on the 1st waning day of Thadingyut 1384 ME (10 October 2022), pilgrims from all over the country and locals lit and offered candles at historic pagodas in the Ba­gan-NyaungU ancient cultural zone, said Secretary U Tin Hla Oo of the Board of Trustees of Bagan Myothit Lawkananda Pa­goda. Pilgrims across the coun­try offered candles to the Buddha and monks at 19 historic ancient pagodas in the Bagan-NyaungU ancient cultural zone yesterday.

The stupas and temples in Bagan-NyaungU are open daily from 6 am to 6 pm except for the Shwezigon Pagoda which is open only during the Thadingyut festival (5-12 October) from 5 am to 8 pm under the Covid-19 rules and regulations.
