AS Chairman of the State Ad­ministration Council Prime Minister Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior Gen­eral Min Aung Hlaing called for peace talks with ethnic armed organizations-EAOs to restore perpetual peace in the country and make an end to the armed conflicts, a peace delegation led by Vice-Chairman Nai Aung Min of the New Mon State Party- NMSP arrived in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

On arrival at the Horizon Lake View Resort in Nay Pyi Taw by car, the delegation was welcomed by members and of­ficials of the National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee, officials from Nay Pyi Taw Council and ministries and ethnic people from the Depart­ment of Fine Arts of Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture and locals who want peace, holding miniature State flags and plac­ards bearing, “Perpetual peace is the real aspiration of the peo­ple”, “Achieving peace is the true desire of all citizens”, “Let’s hold talks for peace in the Union”, “Only the ethnic nationalities are in unity, stability, peace and tranquillity will be achieved”.

The peace delegation led by the vice-chairman of NMSP held the peace talk for the first time between 23 and 25 May 2022. Strengthening the multiparty democratic system, building the Union based on democracy and federalism and further striving for ensuring peace and development of the Union were agreed upon in the talks. It was reported that the peace delegations are allowed to openly discuss their political anticipations and future tasks in the second time talks. Moreover, the ethnic armed organizations which have not joined the peace talks yet are also invited to the talks without any preconditions or in any situation.
