Republic of the Union of Myanmar Office of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Statement on Ceasefire and Eternal Peace (5th Waning of Pyatho, 1382 ME) (1 February 2021)

1. On 8 November 2020, the general election of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar was conducted under the authority of the Union Election Commission (hereinafter referred to as “UEC”). The “UEC” had not only failed to properly perform their duties but also neglected to ensure free, fair and transparent election.

1. The Union Election Commission has peacefully and successfully organized the 2020 General Election under the five norms of free, fair, transparent, credible and reflecting the will of the people, and invited the participation of relevant stakeholders with the elections.

1. The people who want to contribute cash donation for the purchase of vaccines, can donate to the COVID-19 Vaccination Fund at Myanmar Currency Account No. OA 013733 of Myanma Economic Bank (Nay Pyi Taw) by using the following methods:

The National-Level Central Committee on Prevention, Control and Treatment of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) on 30-12-2020 formed a Fund Management Sub-committee on the Purchase of COVID-19 Vaccines. The sub-committee has opened the COVID-19 Vaccination Fund at the Myanma Economic Bank in Nay Pyi Taw as follows:

A total of 203 Pyidaungsu Hluttaw representatives including U Thaung Aye (Pyithu Hluttaw MP in Pyawbwe Constituency, Mandalay Region) submitted a letter dated 11-1-2021, calling for a special session of the second Pyidaungsu Hluttaw. The Speaker of Pyidaungsu Hluttaw, by letter No 2/4/10 (5)/ Pa Hta Sa- 2021 dated 12-1-2021, replied MP U Thaung Aye and his group as follows:

For ensuring strict adherence to COVID-19 preventive rules among the public in accordance with the National-Level Central Committee on Prevention, Control and Treatment of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), and not to occur crowds of taxpayers during the period closer to the deadline for filing tax declaration, the respective deadlines will be extended.

1. The period for deduction of tax relief according to the Union Taxation Law 2019 for the incomes exempted from the income was announced up to 30 September 2020 at the latest. Due to this announcement, the taxpayers have crowded into branches of Myanma Economic Bank during the COVID-19 outbreak to be able to enjoy the deduction of tax relief in line with the notice ‘Payment to the bank not later than 30-9-2020’ on the tax payment challan form. The Ministry of Planning, Finance and Industry has issued Announcement 4/2020 for the extension of tax payment to 30 December 2020, not to occur crowds at these places.

1. In accordance with the directives of the National-Level Central Committee on Prevention, Control and Treatment of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), the Ministry of Planning, Finance and Industry will continue the government’s tax relaxation scheme until the end of January 2021.
