Under the supervision of the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, efforts to combat the illicit trade are continued effectively by the law.

On 30 and 31 January, the combined teams impounded illegal timbers weighing 2.448 tonnes valued at K227,664 in Hlegu Township, illegal timbers weighing 1.236 tonnes valued at K168,096 in Pantanaw Township and illegal teak weighing 0.513 tonne, hardwood weighing 2.051 tonnes and illegal other timbers weighing 10.011 tonnes valued at K3.329 million in Bago, Toungoo, Nyaunglebin and Pyay districts. The action was taken under the Forest Law.

On 1 February, the combined on-duty teams seized industrial materials worth K182.515 million without official documents from four containers at the Asia World Port Terminal container checkpoint and three kinds of consumer goods worth K25 million that were smuggled and piled up by the roadside on the Kengtung detour. The action was conducted per Customs procedures.

The Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee reported eight arrests on 30 and 31 January and 1 February, seizing illegal goods worth approximately K211 million.
