A second round of nutritional support was delivered yesterday to 2,644 Kindergarten (KG) students across 54 primary schools in Aungmyaythazan Township, Mandalay Region. The initiative, aimed at improving the nutrition and development of school-age children is being coordinated by the Department of Public Health.

Township Health Officer Dr Thant Zin Lin along with health staff, members of the Township Maternal and Child Welfare Association, Women’s Affairs Federation and the Township Education Officer Daw Thida Htay led the programme. They provided lunch to KG students at the primary schools 12 and 18 including rice, eggs, mixed bean dishes and banana. The students also received supplementary nutrition and were educated on proper handwashing before meals and brushing their teeth after eating.

This nutritional initiative aims to ensure the students’ overall health and energy, fostering habits that contribute to better health and nutrition. The programme is part of a broader effort to improve the well-being of young children and their families by promoting healthy dietary habits alongside educational growth. The initiative not only benefits the students but also raises awareness of health and nutrition within the broader community.
