ARRANGEMENTS should be made for the upcoming election to be a systematic, free, fair and trustworthy one, said Union Election Commission Chairman U Thein Soe during the coordination meeting with UEC members, officials and UEC personnel yesterday.

He also said the UEC has carried out the actions that should be done in line with the law including the first point -scrutiny of voter lists mentioned in the five-point road map of the State Administration Council. According to the fifth point, preparations are being made to hold the free and fair multiparty democratic elections in line with the 2008 Constitution upon accomplishing the provisions of the state of emergency.

The relevant region/state election sub-commissions should cooperate with the departments concerned to be an accurate population for basic voter lists and update monthly. Moreover, it should make efforts for polling stations, election supplies and other necessary things. All need to be ready in respective regions and states.

Then, officials reported on the activities for voter lists, location of polling stations and purchasing of election supplies and the UEC Chairman left proper instructions.
