Myanmar National Human Rights Commission Statement 4/2022 1. The Chairman of the State Administration Council issued Order No 70/ 2022, 71/ 2022, 72/ 2022, 73/ 2022, and 74/ 2022 on 17 November 2022, under which a total of 5,774 prisoners serving sentences in respective prisons, jails and camps, and other five prisoners have been pardoned. Furthermore, the cases opened against 11 artistes have been allowed to be withdrawn, and the prison sentences of four foreign prisoners have been remitted and they have been deported. These humanitarian actions of the Chairman are steps in the right direction. Despite the expressions of different motives underlying these actions, the stark facts remain that the relevant families are certainly pleased to be reunited with their family members.

THE State Administration Council Chairman has permitted to withdraw of the cases opened against the following members of ethnic armed organizations in commemoration of the National Victory Day which falls on 10th Waning of Tazaungmone 1384 ME (17 November 2022) as well as to ensure the national unity and internal peace.

THE State Administration Council Chairman has granted pardons to the following members of ethnic armed organizations who are serving prison sentences at their respective prisons, jails and camps under the Code of Criminal Procedure Article 401 (1) "to serve the new punishment together with the remaining punishment to which he was sentenced this time if more offence is committed" in commemoration of the National Victory Day which falls on 10th Waning of Tazaungmone 1384 ME (17 November 2022) as well as to ensure national unity and internal peace.

THE Government has granted amnesty for 5,774 prisoners from prisons across the country in honour of the National Victory Day and on humanitarian grounds. It is learnt that 985 prisoners, including four foreigners, were released from the Insein prison under amnesty at 2:30 pm yesterday.
