AT the invitation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, a Myanmar delegation led by Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr Tin Htut attended the 2023 Global Forum on Soil Health held in Yangling, Shaanxi Province, on 19 and 20 September.
The 2023 Global Forum on Soil Health is held with the aim of sharing experiences related to Soil Health Management, conducting policy discussions and technical exchanges to solve issues related to food security and climate change and to implement the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations for Sustainable Development.
During the meeting, the deputy minister discussed the implementation and enhancement of Myanmar-China cooperation in the development of the agricultural sector, the mutual exchange of crop genetic resources, and cooperation in the development of soil health technology and research activities.
In addition, the deputy minister acted as a leading panellist in the workshop on the improvement of soil health of rice-growing lands, and discussed bilateral research and technology cooperation and capacity building, as well as food security and nutrition market development activities.
The deputy minister and party visited the soil development galleries and modern agricultural industries and the trade fair held by Shanghai Cooperation Organization member countries in Yangling on 21 September and returned to Yangon on 23 September.
