Deputy Minister for Construction U Myo Myint, members of the Chin State Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Committee, and members of the working committees yesterday inspected a collective cleanup campaign in Falam and the 200-bed Township Hospital, which was damaged in the attacks of terrorists.
Deputy minister and party observed a collective clean-up operation carried out by a combined workforce of 352 personnel, including members of the Tatmadaw, Myanmar Police Force, Fire Services Department, health and education staff, and district and township departmental officials. The cleanup covered Doctor Ni Khwe Road in Blai Ward, roadside overgrowth, the surroundings of district and township government offices, the public hospital and the nursing training school. The deputy minister encouraged the participants, provided breakfast, and spoke with them individually.
The damaged houses and public buildings in Falam caused by terrorist incidents are being repaired and reconstructed on a daily basis through the joint efforts of religious leaders, pastors, respected clergy, community elders, members of the Tatmadaw, police and firefighters, health and education staff, and district and township departmental officials.
On arrival at the 200-bed township hospital, the Union minister inspected ongoing cleaning activities carried out using both manpower and machinery, as well as the removal of damaged structural components. He instructed officials to systematically collect and store reusable materials salvaged from buildings designated for demolition, including roofing sheets, timber, iron grilles, steel doors, doors and window panels, frames, water supply equipment and electrical materials.
A temporary public hospital has been opened in Falam, where the medical superintendent and 84 healthcare personnel have provided medical treatment to 1,554 patients. The facility has been serving not only residents of the town but also people from surrounding villages. Moreover, the township hospitals in Tiddim, Tonzang and Falam are also open with 285 doctors and health staff providing treatment to 14,124 patients with the use of labs, medical supplies and medicines provided by the government.
