THE Kyonpyaw edition of the Children’s Literary Festival was inaugurated by Union Minister for Information Dr Pe Myint and Ayeyawady Region Chief Minister U Hla Moe Aung at B.E.H.S. (1) Kyonpyaw yesterday morning.

This festival was organized between the regional cabinet, the Information and Public Relations Department, Basic Education Department and the township administration committee.

THE world’s biggest book sale, The Big Bad Wolf, made its second return to Myanmar at Myanmar Expo Hall, Fortune Plaza, in Thaketa Township of Yangon yesterday.

At the opening ceremony, Ready 2 Read Myanmar’s Director U Myo Aung, who are organizing the fair, Deputy Director-General Dr Aung Swe Tun of the Monitoring and Evaluation Team under the Ministry of Education, and officials from Save the Library delivered opening speeches.


They then cut ceremonial ribbons to officially open the fair and browsed through the book aisles inside.

THE Myanmar National Symphony Orchestra Concerts 2020 will be held in Yangon and Nay Pyi Taw this month.
Entry to the concerts, which will feature artistes from Myanma Radio and Television (MRTV) and Japan, will be free of charge.
The concert in Yangon is scheduled to be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on 20 February at the Novotel Hotel. The concert in Nay Pyi Taw will take place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on 25 February at the Myanmar International Convention Centre-II (MICC-II).
The Japanese musicians will be led by well-known conductor and composer Mr. Yunosuke Yamamoto.

Portugal-based Vende-se Films shot scenes in Yangon, including at cultural heritage buildings, and also captured the traditional culture of Myanmar from 4 to 6 January for a documentary film.
The team captured people participating in sports events held to mark the Independence Day, water transportation in the Yangon River, the Yangon-Dala Jetty, colonial buildings on Pansodan Road, the daily life of the people along the circular rail road, and Myanmar traditional performance at the Karaweik Palace Hotel. The documentary will be released under the title The Journey.

SELECTIONS for footballers for the MFF-MNL ‘Road to Japan’ tour will be held from 8 to 11 January on the artificial turf of the National Football Academy in Yangon, according to the Myanmar Football Federation.
A total of 75 footballers who have been preliminarily selected from MPT U-14 Football Tournament 2019 and MFF 100Plus Cup States and Regions U-14 (Boy’s) Football Tournament will be grouped into five teams – Teams A, B, C, D and E. Twenty-five players will be selected from among them.
The selected players will be sent to Japan on a football tour.
